Grok Bot vs a ready-made AI marketing team: which gets the work done?
· 6 min read
xAI launched Grok Bot in August 2026 and has been advertising it hard since. Its pitch is "AI teammates that finish the work", and that pitch has a lot of small business owners asking the right question: should I hire AI teammates, and which kind?
There are two kinds on the market now. This post explains the difference, what each costs, and how to choose. Grok Bot details come from xAI's own Grok Bot page and pricing page on 18 October 2026.
The two kinds of AI teammate
General Bots you build. Grok Bot is the clearest example. You create a Bot, give it a job, sign it into your tools and, if you like, show it a workflow once so it can repeat it. Each Bot can use a cloud computer, so it can work in apps that have no integration. Your Bots share that computer, which lets them pass files and logins between them.
Ready-made specialists. Tools like Crewmint give you a team where each member already knows one job: social media, copy, SEO, ads, design, lead research, outreach. You give them your website and brand, and they start on real work straight away.
Both are useful. They suit different people.
What setup really takes
With a general Bot, the quality of the work depends on the setup. You decide the role, connect each tool, write the instructions and teach the routines. xAI helps with a marketplace of starter Bots and guides for common roles, but the shaping is still yours. Teams with a clear process to automate, and someone to own it, get a lot out of this.
With a ready-made team, the setup is mostly about your business, not the AI. You add your website, upload a past report or deck if you want your branding copied, and pick the roles you need. Then you ask for the work in plain English: "Plan next week's LinkedIn posts" or "Check my Google Ads for wasted spend".
If you have an afternoon a week to spare for building and tuning Bots, the general route can fit anything. If you do not, a team that already knows the job gets you results sooner.

Grok's $30 plan also includes the rest of xAI's products, such as Grok chat, image and video generation and X Premium features. If you would use those anyway, Grok Bot comes as part of the bundle.
What gets delivered
A general Bot works inside the apps you already use. It can research accounts, update a CRM, draft emails and run routines on a schedule.
A ready-made marketing team is built around finished marketing work:
- Social media: posts planned, written per platform, designed and scheduled after you approve. See Nova.
- Design and video: graphics and short videos made in your brand kit and checked against it before you see them. See Lumi and Ivy.
- Ads: Google and Meta accounts reviewed for wasted spend, with changes proposed for your one-tap approval. See Max.
- Leads and outreach: companies found and checked, first emails written, sent from your own mailbox with warm-up and follow-ups. See Scout and Rio.
- Reports: branded reports and decks built from your own template.
Which should you pick?
Pick Grok Bot if you want one flexible AI that can work in almost any tool, you have a process you are ready to teach, or you already pay for an xAI or Cursor plan that includes it.
Pick a ready-made AI marketing team if you are a small business, freelancer or agency that wants the marketing, design and outreach done every week, without building the team first, and with every post, email and ad change waiting for your approval.
You can also use both: a general Bot for internal tools, and specialists for the marketing.
