This page explains what the Crewmint browser extension ("Crewmint: Minty", for Chrome and Edge) reads, what it sends to crewmint.ai and what it keeps on your device. It adds to our Privacy Policy, which covers everything you do in your Crewmint account. The extension has one purpose: to let you talk to your Crewmint AI teammates from a side panel while you browse.
What the extension reads
The page you are on, only when you send a message with "Use this page" ticked or choose "Ask Minty about this page". It then reads the page title, its address, any text you have selected and the visible text of the page (up to about 12,000 characters).
Text you select, only when you right-click it and choose an Ask Minty action such as Rewrite or Reply.
Nothing else. The extension does not read pages in the background, does not record your browsing history, and does not read form fields, passwords, cookies or other tabs.
The floating Minty
The extension shows a small Minty icon on websites so you can open the panel in one click. That icon only draws itself and listens for your click. It does not read or send anything from the page. You can hide it on one site with its × button, or everywhere with the "Minty on pages" switch in the panel.
What it sends, and where
What you type, plus the page or selected text described above, goes to crewmint.ai over an encrypted connection, the same as a message typed in the Crewmint app. It is saved in that chat in your workspace, so you and your team can see it in the app.
To write the answer, the message is processed by our AI model provider, Anthropic, as described in our Privacy Policy and Subprocessors list. It is not used to train AI models.
The extension talks to no other server. It contains no advertising, analytics or tracking code.
What it keeps on your device
A sign-in token that lets the panel act for you in your Crewmint workspace (it expires after 90 days, and signing out of all devices in your account cancels it), the workspace you picked, and your settings: whether "Use this page" is ticked, whether the floating Minty is on, the sites where you hid it and where you dragged it. These are stored in your browser's extension storage.
Signing out in the panel deletes the token. Removing the extension deletes everything it stored.
Limited use
We use the information the extension reads only to answer the request you made with it. We do not sell it, do not use it for advertising, do not use it to decide creditworthiness or for lending, and do not let people read it except when you ask us for support, when it is needed for security, or when the law requires it. Our use of this information follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Permissions it asks for
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Read and change data on websites | To read the page you ask about when you send, and to show the floating Minty icon. It reads a page only when you ask. |
| Side panel | To open your teammates beside the page you are on. |
| Context menus | To add Ask Minty actions when you right-click selected text. |
| Scripting and active tab | To copy the text of the current page at the moment you send a message about it. |
| Storage | To remember your sign-in and settings on this device. |
Deleting your data
Chats sent from the extension live in your workspace. Delete them in the Crewmint app, or delete your account to remove everything, as described in our Privacy Policy.
